Joe’s illness worsens, prompting him to race to overcome his fears, but he is captured by Galactor and confronted by Katse. After refusing to betray his comrades, Joe fights back and escapes from a mecha, only to collapse and be hospitalized. He learns he has ten days to live. Meanwhile, Galactor initiates a final operation using earthquakes as bait. Nambu investigates the seismic activity, leaving Joe behind for medical checks. Joe convinces Ken to take the G-2 car and escapes the hospital when Nambu is distracted. Using clues from Katse, Joe travels to Cross Karakorum, believing it to be the enemy headquarters. His communication bracelet is destroyed by a bullet during the journey. Surrounded by Galactor forces, Joe fights valiantly but is ultimately overwhelmed by gunfire. Simultaneously, astronomers observe the extinction of a star selector in the Andromeda nebula.
