Ep. 1: Ai Astin confronts a stranger who slaughters her village while grappling with her past as a gravekeeper.

Ai Astin faces a mysterious man who massacres her town. Flashbacks reveal she became a gravekeeper at age seven after her mother died, a role requiring emotional detachment to help the dead rest since God’s abandonment. Living with foster parents Youki and Anna, Ai remains hopeful that her father, Hampnie Hambart, will return. The next day, she encounters a white-haired man who identifies her as the gravekeeper and asks for Hana and another woman. He introduces himself as Hampnie, whom Ai claims as her father, though he denies it. After Ai discovers the dead villagers, a wounded farmer named Yuuto defends her but is killed by Hampnie. Ai attacks Hampnie in rage but wakes to find him ordering her to bury the village. He reveals she is not a true gravekeeper because she has parents and emotions, then introduces her to one.
