Toshihiko and his allies struggle to stop Ōba's ambitions. Ōba uses a drug-induced Yuka to attack Toshihiko, who restores her senses. The group races to stop Ōba’s gas trap that transforms people into Shokujinki. Jin confronts Ōba’s severed head, accusing him of acting out of rejection by Yuka and Harumi, while Toshihiko learns Ōba killed his stepmother. Toshihiko wins but loses his arm, escaping before government bombers destroy the city. On a plane with Bon, Jin, and Saru, Yuka attempts to leave Toshihiko, fearing she brings pain. He jumps after her with a parachute and confesses his feelings. An epilogue shows the group on a family vacation near the elderly couple’s area, with Toshihiko believed to be the father of their unseen daughter. During the credits, Saru finds a female monkey with his babies.
