Toshihiko and Yuka are on the run again and join a kind elderly couple for a hike. During their journey, the pair attempt to resolve their romantic feelings for one another. Unbeknownst to them, a mysterious vendor provides "medicine" to the old couple. As the couple reconciles, they encounter "Flesh eaters" and assume the attackers killed their hosts. During the ensuing battle, Toshihiko realizes the attackers are actually the elderly couple. Before he can intervene, Yuka succumbs to her instincts, killing and devouring the old lady. Horrified by her actions, Yuka flees, believing their relationship is now impossible. Before Toshihiko can pursue her, Ōba discovers and kidnaps her.
