Ep. 2: Tanjiro meets Sakonji Urokodaki after surviving a demon encounter on Mt. Sagiri

Tanjiro and Nezuko encounter a demon in a temple near Mt. Sagiri. Tanjiro restrains the creature but hesitates to kill it, leaving it to burn in sunlight. He then meets Sakonji Urokodaki, who criticizes his weak resolve and warns about the consequences if Nezuko harms a human. After Nezuko rests, Urokodaki tests Tanjiro by having him climb and descend the dangerous, trap-filled mountain. Tanjiro succeeds in this trial. Remembering a letter from Giyu asking him to train Tanjiro, Urokodaki accepts the boy as his student. This encounter marks the beginning of Tanjiro's formal training under Urokodaki's guidance to become a Demon Slayer.
