Ep. 4: Tanjiro departs for the Final Selection on Mt. Fujikasane with Urokodaki's guidance and protection.
Two years after Nezuko's transformation, Tanjiro leaves for the Final Selection while she remains with Urokodaki. Before departing, Urokodaki warns Tanjiro that older demons gain new powers and provides a fox mask with a protective spell. Tanjiro mentions Sabito and Makomo, surprising Urokodaki. Upon arriving at Mt. Fujikasane, Tanjiro meets other applicants and learns they must survive seven days without wisteria. He defeats two demons using a Nichirin sword. Later, he saves an applicant from a massive demon who has been trapped for years. The demon reveals he has eaten at least fifty applicants and recognizes Tanjiro as Urokodaki's fourteenth victim. Enraged by the demon's mention of Sabito and Makomo, Tanjiro attacks. Despite the demon's claim that his neck is unbreakable, Tanjiro successfully severs it.
