Apr 6, 2019Set in Japan during the Taisho era between 1912 and 1926, Tanjiro Kamado resides in the mountains. After selling coal in town, he returns home to find his family murdered by demons. His younger sister Nezuko is the sole survivor of the massacre. Tanjiro descends the mountain during a blizzard to rescue her. Upon reaching her, Nezuko suddenly growls and attacks her brother. This event marks the beginning of their journey as Tanjiro attempts to save his sister despite her transformation into a demon. The narrative establishes the tragic circumstances that drive the protagonist's actions and the central conflict involving his family's fate and his sister's condition.
EP 2Tanjiro meets Sakonji Urokodaki after surviving a demon encounter on Mt. Sagiri
Apr 13, 2019Tanjiro and Nezuko encounter a demon in a temple near Mt. Sagiri. Tanjiro restrains the creature but hesitates to kill it, leaving it to burn in sunlight. He then meets Sakonji Urokodaki, who criticizes his weak resolve and warns about the consequences if Nezuko harms a human. After Nezuko rests, Urokodaki tests Tanjiro by having him climb and descend the dangerous, trap-filled mountain. Tanjiro succeeds in this trial. Remembering a letter from Giyu asking him to train Tanjiro, Urokodaki accepts the boy as his student. This encounter marks the beginning of Tanjiro's formal training under Urokodaki's guidance to become a Demon Slayer.
EP 3Tanjiro trains with Urokodaki and faces spiritual challenges from Sabito and Makomo before the Final Selection.
Apr 20, 2019For one year, Tanjiro trains under Urokodaki, mastering Water Style swordsmanship while his sister Nezuko sleeps for six months. Urokodaki tasks Tanjiro with slicing a boulder to qualify for the Final Selection, the path to joining the Demon Slayers Corps. After six months of failure, Tanjiro is attacked by Sabito, a masked figure who defeats him despite Tanjiro’s real sword. Upon waking, Tanjiro meets Makomo, who teaches him Total Concentration Breathing to enhance his strength. She reveals she and Sabito were orphans raised by Urokodaki. Sabito continues to defeat Tanjiro in sparring matches until, after another six months, Tanjiro finally strikes him with a real sword. The siblings smile and vanish. Tanjiro discovers his blade has actually split the boulder, proving his readiness.
EP 4Tanjiro departs for the Final Selection on Mt. Fujikasane with Urokodaki's guidance and protection.
Apr 27, 2019Two years after Nezuko's transformation, Tanjiro leaves for the Final Selection while she remains with Urokodaki. Before departing, Urokodaki warns Tanjiro that older demons gain new powers and provides a fox mask with a protective spell. Tanjiro mentions Sabito and Makomo, surprising Urokodaki. Upon arriving at Mt. Fujikasane, Tanjiro meets other applicants and learns they must survive seven days without wisteria. He defeats two demons using a Nichirin sword. Later, he saves an applicant from a massive demon who has been trapped for years. The demon reveals he has eaten at least fifty applicants and recognizes Tanjiro as Urokodaki's fourteenth victim. Enraged by the demon's mention of Sabito and Makomo, Tanjiro attacks. Despite the demon's claim that his neck is unbreakable, Tanjiro successfully severs it.
EP 5Tanjiro Survives Final Selection and Receives His First Demon Hunter Mission
May 4, 2019After the demon dissolves and Urokodaki’s victims depart, Tanjiro survives the Final Selection alongside three others. The twins identify them as Mizunoto, the lowest rank, and assign Kaugai crows for communication. Tanjiro prevents an angry applicant from harming the twins. He returns to Urokodaki, finding Nezuko awake after a year and a half of slumber. Urokodaki believes she is recovering strength by sleeping rather than eating humans. Fifteen days later, swordsmith Haganezuka delivers Tanjiro’s new sword, which turns black upon being drawn, a rare occurrence. A Kaugai crow arrives with orders for Tanjiro to travel northwest to a town where young girls have been vanishing. He must kill the responsible demon, marking his first official assignment as a Demon Hunter.

May 11, 2019Tanjiro carries Nezuko in a box to a town where girls are disappearing. He meets Kazumi, whose fiancée Satoko vanished. Kazumi shows Tanjiro the last location, and Tanjiro tracks the demon’s scent. Kazumi recalls being beaten by Satoko’s parents, who suspected him. He realizes Tanjiro is a Demon Slayer. At night, a liquid demon abducts a girl by moving underground. Tanjiro stabs the ground, wounding the demon and rescuing the girl. The demon emerges, using Blood Demon Art to split into three beings with high regeneration. Tanjiro is overwhelmed. Nezuko exits her box to help. Urokodaki reveals the surviving demon is Kibutsuji Muzan, over a thousand years old. He is the progenitor of all demons and the one who attacked the Kamado household. He possesses the special blood needed to turn humans into demons and may know how to restore Nezuko to humanity.

Kazumi is initially angry but apologizes after receiving Satoko's hairpin. Tanjiro vows to defeat Kibutsuji and receives directions to Asakusa, Tokyo from a Kasugai crow. Overwhelmed by the city, he rests in a park and follows Kibutsuji's scent. He spots Kibutsuji pretending to be a father with a human girl and mother. She explains she removed Kibutsuji’s curse two hundred years ago, allowing her and Yushiro to survive on minimal blood. Tamayo asks to study Nezuko’s unique blood to find a cure for demons and requests samples from other powerful demons. Tanjiro agrees to assist. Meanwhile, Kibutsuji orders two demons, Susamaru and Yahaba, to retrieve Tanjiro’s head. Susamaru attacks with temari balls while Yahaba uses his palm eyes, and the pair assault the house where Tamayo and Tanjiro are located.

Jun 1, 2019Susamaru and Yahaba reveal themselves as members of the Twelve Kizuki, targeting Tanjiro. Susamaru attacks with multiple temari balls, while Yahaba uses telekinesis to control their trajectories via arrows. Nezuko rescues a human woman and joins the fight, distracting Yahaba and weakening the temari. Tanjiro, aided by Yushiro’s Blood Art, initially struggles to see the invisible arrows. The siblings coordinate attacks, with Nezuko and Tamayo engaging Susamaru while Tanjiro focuses on Yahaba. Despite losing a leg, Nezuko helps create openings. Tanjiro eventually masters the Whirlpool technique to deflect the arrows without touching them, allowing him to decapitate Yahaba. Susamaru regrows her arms and creates more temari, but the demons shift their attention to Tamayo, whom they recognize as a fugitive.
EP 10Tanjiro survives Yahaba while Nezuko defeats Susamaru with Tamayo's aid.
Jun 8, 2019Yahaba attacks Tanjiro as he disintegrates, forcing the boy to endure heavy blows before dying. Susamaru summons six temari, but Tamayo reveals Kibutsuji’s cowardly programming that makes demons kill each other. Enraged, Susamaru utters his name, triggering a curse that crushes her with giant arms. Tamayo notes they were not Twelve Kizuki due to lacking numbered eyeballs and takes Susamaru’s blood. Tanjiro returns to the basement, where Nezuko hugs Tamayo and pets Yushiro, viewing them as humans. Tamayo cries and thanks her. The demons plan to flee due to proximity to Kibutsuji. A crow directs Tanjiro southeast, where he encounters Agatsuma Zenitsu, a fellow Final Selection survivor, begging a woman to marry him.

After a man is ejected from the house and dies, Tanjiro persuades Zenitsu to enter while leaving Nezuko with the siblings for protection. Inside, the house’s layout shifts, separating Teruko with Tanjiro and Shoichi with Zenitsu. Shoichi criticizes Zenitsu’s fear as he searches for an exit. A boar-headed man passes by before the demon, who controls the house via a body-mounted tsuzumi drum, attacks Tanjiro. The demon reveals his prey was stolen, then flips the room’s orientation. A scream attracts a second demon, causing Zenitsu to faint, only to wake up and realize he has killed it using Thunder Form while asleep. Inosuke effortlessly defeats a third demon using Beast Form. Kyogai seeks to consume Kiyoshi, a human with rare marechi blood, to regain his status among the Twelve Moons after being stripped of his number by Kibutsuji. Tanjiro reunites Kiyoshi with his sister Teruko. Learning that Kiyoshi’s drum movements shift the rooms, Tanjiro instructs the siblings to keep moving while he confronts Kyogai.
