Ep. 22: Tanjiro Faces Trial Before the Hashira Regarding Nezuko's Demon Status
Tanjiro stands trial before the nine Hashira for traveling with his demon sister, Nezuko. Sanemi attacks the box containing her, prompting Tanjiro to defend her and impress the pillars. The Demon Slayer Corps Master arrives, accompanied by two white-haired girls, and reviews a letter from former Water Pillar Urokodaki Sakonji. Urokodaki’s letter pledges seppuku if Nezuko harms a human, a vow Rengoku rejects as insufficient. The Master notes Nezuko has not attacked humans in two years despite starvation and allows her to stay unless the Hashira provide better arguments. The group learns Tanjiro met the reclusive Kibutsuji, the demon progenitor. Sanemi remains hostile, stabbing Nezuko twice more to test her restraint. He places the box in a house and opens it, challenging Nezuko to attack him for blood while she is wounded and salivating.
