After fleeing villagers who mistook them for sorcerers, Max and his companions search for Spartacus to free him before the gladiator matches start. Simultaneously, Spectral Space Pirates leader Spectre discusses the D-Team's situation and Alpha Gang interference with Gavro, Foolscap, and Sheer. Terry is released into the Colosseum despite damaging the cells, which allows Spartacus and other gladiators to escape. Rex and Zoe provoke Ursula by calling her an old lady, enabling her, Zander, and Ed to break free. When Lucius Cornelius Sulla threatens to kill Sophia or force her to take Spartacus' place in the arena unless he surrenders, the D-Team intervenes to rescue her, triggering a chase by pursuing soldiers.
