Sunbeam receives instructions to travel to Hokkaido for a week of training. Before departing, he leaves his Mamodo, Ponygon, in the care of Kiyo and Zatch. Ponygon feels a strong desire to accompany Sunbeam on this trip. Seeing Ponygon's distress, Zatch decides to help him. Zatch assists Ponygon in sneaking aboard a plane so that he can join Sunbeam despite being left behind. This action allows the Mamodo to travel to the northern location with his partner, defying the initial separation arranged by Sunbeam.
