The formidable mamodo Bari, dissatisfied with his rivals, seeks a worthy opponent. His book owner, Gustav, suggests Zatch, prompting them to hunt him down. Zatch agrees to the duel but senses a hidden power in his adversary. The confrontation takes place in an abandoned factory where Bari disperses some loitering youths, though two girls remain. Kiyo attempts to assist the girls in escaping the dangerous area. While the girls manage to flee safely, Kiyo endures a severe strike from Bari. Despite this setback, Zatch fights on with intense determination. The fierce clash between Zatch and Bari marks the true beginning of their struggle for the title of king.
