Ep. 8: Seirin declares national ambitions as Hyuga coerces Riko into coaching
The new Seirin team announces their national tournament goal before morning assembly, prompting Hyuga to threaten a naked confession until Riko agrees to coach them. Kiyoshi remains captain despite founding the team. In the preliminary finals against Kirisaki Dai Ichi, Kiyoshi’s leg injury worsens with under four minutes remaining. Hanamiya Makoto enters and intentionally injures Kiyoshi to prevent Seirin’s victory. Seirin wins 84–83. At the hospital, Kiyoshi hides the severity of his knee damage, claiming it is a sprain. Hyuga forces the truth: surgery and rehabilitation are required for a high school graduation recovery, or continued play risks permanent damage. Hyuga vows to reach the national stage next year. Without Kiyoshi, Seirin is eliminated from the championship league by the three kings.
