Mai’s classmate Musashi, son of Koganei, asks her to a romance film, and Shou’s teasing convinces her to attend. Inside the crowded theater, Mai yields her seat to an elderly woman. A man standing nearby offers his briefcase as a step-stool so she can see, prompting Mai to give him two tickets to Magic Carat in return. Later, Koganei reveals the man is the film’s director and attempts to persuade him to cast Emi. At the performance, Emi spots the director in the audience and offers a bouquet and a wink. He becomes enraged, suspecting her motives, while she remains confused by his hostile reaction to her friendly gesture. Koganei intervenes to get them to sit down and resolve the misunderstanding together.
