After a beach trip, Kentaro develops a crush on older Ikuko and studies with her and Godai. His shy demeanor surprises Godai until Kyoko reveals his feelings, noting that young boys often like older girls—a fact Godai acknowledges applies to himself. Kyoko offers to cook dinner for Godai and Ikuko, but he is dismayed to learn it is her late husband's favorite dish. Despite this, Kyoko and Godai appear closer, as he held her hand without protest after she accidentally cut herself.
