Mitaka reveals his lack of desire for engagement to Asuna, who accepts the breakup. She later finds a drunk Shun at her door, helps him inside, and is kissed by Mitaka. The next morning, Asuna leaves Shun with breakfast while her driver Kimita promises secrecy. Mitaka wakes with fragmented memories but recalls the kiss. At Maison Ikkoku, Godai faces Kyoko’s hostility and announces he will not stay. Yusaku chooses to remain at the Cabaret until graduation. Mitaka, fearing he overstepped, tracks Asuna to Izu. He learns she spent the night there but refuses to force marriage based on their encounter.
