Ep. 1: Takeru Ooyama begins his co-ed high school life amid Maken duels and unexpected romantic entanglements.

Haruko Amaya escorts childhood friend Takeru Ooyama to Tenbi Academy, a private prep high school that recently transitioned from all-girls to co-ed. While Haruko prepares for the welcoming ceremony, Takeru observes a confrontation between Azuki Shinatsu and Garrett Kinua, who are settling a wager over a teddy bear. He also encounters Kodama Himegami, who watches from a tree. During the ceremony, principal and physical education teacher Minori Rokujou explains that students must master an Element to obtain one of the original eight Maken weapons. Kodama challenges Takeru to a duel, but the match is interrupted by Inaho Kushiya, who claims to be Takeru's fiancée. Takeru is assigned to a dormitory where he shares a room with Kodama and Inaho. A jealous Haruko decides to move in with them as well.
