Ep. 5: Aki Fakes a Boyfriend and Gets Trapped on an Island with Takeru

After lying to her mother about having a boyfriend to avoid an arranged marriage, Aki must provide photographic proof. She snaps a picture with Takeru, who is recovering from injuries at the school infirmary. Both awaken handcuffed together in a log cabin on an island, having been left there by Aki’s mother as a gift. A note instructs them to survive two days until a boat arrives. The forced proximity leads them to share meals, bathing, and sleep, drawing them closer. When rain forces them under a tree, they nearly kiss before being interrupted by Haruko and Kodama. Takeru’s explanation of the handcuffs is undermined when they suddenly vanish, leaving him in a difficult position. Aki ultimately finds value in the brief experience of pretending to have a partner.
