Kaede and Chifusa encounter painter Sakuji Itamune while traveling through the forest. He asks Kaede to model, but she misinterprets Chifusa’s caution as jealousy and leaves her. Sakuji reveals he paints nude art of flat-chested women, causing Kaede to flee. She is immediately attacked by the same Manyu guards who previously targeted Sakuji. Sakuji attempts to defend her but fails. Chifusa arrives and easily defeats the attackers. With Chifusa’s assistance, Sakuji completes a painting of Kaede that he considers his masterpiece. Although Sakuji invites Kaede to stay as his permanent model, she chooses to remain with Chifusa. The two friends depart together to continue their journey, leaving the painter behind.
