Ep. 5: Nanbu confronts his presumed-dead student Aragaki, who seeks revenge against Joe for his war injuries and lost gym.

Nanbu learns that Aragaki, his former student, survived a war explosion that cost him his legs and was declared missing in action. Aragaki demands Nanbu pay for his losses by having Joe defeat him, causing Nanbu anxiety while Joe refuses to cancel the match. Research reveals Aragaki has left opponents in critical condition since returning to Megalo Boxing three years ago. Flashbacks show Aragaki attempted suicide after the war and felt betrayed when Nanbu closed the gym, despite promises it was his home. The bout starts with Aragaki knocking Joe down with a single punch, pushing the referee count toward ten.
