Conan attends the birthday celebration for Yumi Sekizawa, a classmate of Ran, Sonoko, and Sera, alongside her sister Reimi Sekizawa, who is a model. During the event, the lights in the hall go out for a slide show presentation. In the darkness, the group hears Mizutoshi Hanasaki, a hair and makeup artist who had been courting the Sekizawa sisters, cry out in distress. When the lights return, Hanasaki is found dead with the word damnation written on his forehead. Concurrently, Sera recalls the day her mother Mary transformed into a child.
