Conan, Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, Genta, and Haibara travel to Hatoyama Farm with teachers Sumiko Kobayashi and Rumi Wakasa to care for new school chickens. Journalists Junya Hizuka, Takashi Minami, and Shogo Kano ride the same bus, creating tension. Mitsuhiko photographs Kano’s phone screen and faces trouble, but Toru Amuro intervenes. Upon arrival, the ranch appears deserted as it prepares for conversion into a golf course. The group finds the poultry coop empty with a large wall hole, indicating escaped chickens. While searching for the birds, the children take a restroom break, during which Ayumi vanishes without a trace.
