Kogoro Mouri encounters Inspector Megure outside Cafe Poirot and congratulates him on a swift case resolution, only to learn the arrest was mistaken. Conan Edogawa joins Kogoro to question the Inspector about the death of Shuhei Odawara, a landlord found with strangulation and beating marks. Evidence included a rope and iron pipe. Tomoko Yaguchi identified her ex-boyfriend, Yosuke Kagetsu, as the suspect. Inspector Megure’s team visits Kagetsu, who confesses to the murder and states he was preparing to surrender. The case appears closed quickly, but Kogoro and Conan suspect the truth is more complex than the official police report suggests.
