On a Sunday morning, Yusuke Sakon attempts to reach his girlfriend Aki Kano but fails to make contact. While traveling to her residence, he learns the door is locked and requests assistance from the building manager, Hayashi, to gain entry. Upon entering, Yusuke discovers that Kano has died. Police officers soon arrive at the scene and identify a coffee cup containing cyanide as the cause of death. Nearby, they also find an investigation report attributed to Kogoro. This evidence prompts Kogoro and Conan to arrive at the apartment shortly after the initial discovery to examine the circumstances surrounding Kano's death.
