The Detective Boys visit the police station to identify the suspect behind a nearby bank robbery. Keizo Masuo, the bank owner, contacts his wife Kayo and hands the phone to Detective Takagi. Kayo suddenly screams, causing the group to rush to her house. Keizo directs them to search various rooms before discovering Kayo stabbed in the back. The room appears ransacked, with a fallen bookshelf indicating a struggle. Conan determines the murder is linked to the robbery and finds fresh blood on the bookshelf. While evidence suggests an outsider, Conan reevaluates the case after noticing Keizo smiling hauntingly at the corpse.
