Conan and the Junior Detective League rise at 5:30 to queue for a roller coaster. On the train, they encounter three other passengers who are trainspotters. One photographer waits outside to capture images of the approaching vehicle, but the ladder beneath him collapses, causing him to fall onto the tracks. The conductor immediately engages emergency brakes, and the group exits to verify his safety. They discover he is unharmed. However, upon re-entering the train to resume their journey, Conan and his friends find one of the other photographers deceased. Conan must convince the investigating officer that this incident constitutes a deliberate murder rather than an accidental fall.
