Mouri Kogoro is invited to introduce a popular detective TV serial, where the lead actor proves difficult to work with. Ruri Amaki, a classmate from their childhood, is also on set. She reveals to Ran and Conan that she, Kogoro, and Kisaki have been classmates since kindergarten. The group’s frequent arguments are understood to mask mutual attraction. The actor challenges Kogoro to solve a mystery within the filming. To avoid embarrassment, Conan uses a tranquilizer dart on Kogoro and solves the puzzle using available clues. During a break, the actor is found dead with his throat slit. Ruri is discovered standing over the body with bloody hands, becoming the primary suspect in the incident.
