Kogoro contacts hotels to find anyone who rented all three board games, eventually locating Itakara’s room. Upon entering, they discover Itakara has died of a stroke. Police investigation reveals his body was tied up, suggesting someone prevented him from taking medication that could have avoided the stroke. Since only the three producers knew about the specific game sets and the hotel stay, they become the prime murder suspects.
