Jun and the Detective Boys return to the hospital, allowing the police to realize Conan was the actual hostage. Conan escapes his confinement, travels to the hospital, and undergoes questioning by the authorities. Together with Takagi, he deduces the method the kidnapper used to vanish the truck in the tunnel. Shortly thereafter, the inspector informs the detective that the kidnapper's corpse has been discovered, revealing he was murdered by an accomplice. Although the police initially suspect Jun's stepmother, Conan successfully proves that the driver of Jun's family is the real culprit behind the crime.
