After discovering covert listening devices planted by Soga and Gondou in Genda's home, the group identifies the true culprit. That night, as the suspects retrieve the devices, Heiji and Conan confront Akira Morozumi before he can ignite a fire. They reveal that Akira, Genda's psychiatrist, manipulated his patient into believing he was starting the flames, while the first fire was accidental and the subsequent three were deliberate. Heiji explains that the fourth fire was caused by a light bulb wrapped in paper with a match inside, which ignited at a specific temperature. Conan clarifies that the other suspects only used the devices to feign future prediction. Akira is arrested, and Genda is released from custody.
