Conan and the Detective Boys discuss a recent incident while walking home, whereas Ran and Sonoko visit the hospitalized Jodie. Jodie reveals her identity as an FBI agent and fabricates a story to conceal the danger facing Haibara. Her superior subsequently arrives to discuss placing Haibara in the witness protection program. Meanwhile, Ayumi encounters the Phantom Killer but he escapes due to the presence of witnesses. The sole clue is a mark on Ayumi's hand from an item dropped by the culprit. This symbol is identified as a car brand logo, which is also found on Genta's rear after he sat on Satou's vehicle.
