While walking with Ran, Conan encounters Takagi, who reports that Katsugoro Kitamura, a construction company president, was stabbed to death. The suspect, Yuuichi Minamida, is in custody, but the murder method remains unclear because the knife angle indicates a shorter attacker, whereas Minamida is 20 cm taller than Kitamura. Conan provides subtle clues that lead Takagi to the truth. Takagi explains that Minamida unscrewed the light bulbs in Kitamura's room.
