This discovery reveals the final clue, directing the group to a pond where Mitsuhiko finds the diamond at the bottom. As the first treasure hunter retrieves the gem, the second pulls a gun to kill everyone and keep the prize. Conan tranquilizes the aggressor, but the rising water from a spring causes a massive flood. To stop the deluge, the diamond must be returned to the pond. The old lady is revealed to be Kaitou Kid, who knew the diamond could not be stolen, and Conan lets him escape via hang-glider.
