Aired on July 10, 2006

445
A man hires Kogoro to decode a text message from his daughter, who refuses to explain its meaning. During this task, Kogoro cares for Eri’s Russian Blue kitten, Goro. Goro accidentally drops a dictionary, prompting Kogoro to realize the English code can be translated into Japanese. The kitten then investigates Kogoro’s video tape collection, noting a missing tape and identifying Hiragana and Katakana characters with missing strokes. By reconstructing these characters, Kogoro solves the puzzle, revealing the daughter intended to buy her father a birthday present with a friend. Conan returns from school and removes the Katsuobushi used to guide Goro. Kogoro contacts the client, claiming failure but affirming the daughter’s good character.
