Conan observes Daita’s strange behavior and later learns he plans to stage his death as an accident to secure insurance money for his granddaughter’s surgery. Daita confesses that losing a winning lottery ticket led to his despair. Conan deduces the ticket is hidden in Daita’s reading glasses case. Relieved, Daita jokingly mentions robbing a bank, prompting the boys to recall a suspect resembling Shuichi Akai. The following day, Kogoro receives an anonymous call requesting an investigation into individuals wearing red long-sleeved shirts. The caller arranges a meeting on the third floor of a department store. Upon arrival, the group encounters a man who reveals he is strapped with bombs.
