Kogoro Mouri is visited by Reiji Himuro, who warns that someone will die because of him. Shortly after, Shingo Numao falls from a building while a police officer watches. Conan observes Himuro in a nearby department store, prompting Kogoro to chase him upstairs and grab him by the lapels, an act captured on camera by bystanders. It is revealed that both Himuro and Numao were bank robbers, with Numao having assisted Kogoro in catching Himuro, his former boss. During questioning, Himuro provokes Kogoro into assaulting him to exploit the alibi Kogoro provided for the time of Numao’s fall. Lacking evidence and with Kogoro’s own testimony clearing Himuro, the suspect is released. Inspector Megure reprimands Kogoro for his reckless behavior, which nearly resulted in imprisonment, while the media and internet react strongly to the incident.
