Kogoro accepts a case from Midori to locate her missing husband, the painter Aoki. Conan deduces Aoki’s location in Uozo, Tokugawa Prefecture, based on a painting sent to Midori. The group finds Aoki’s drowned body in Uozu and examines the inn where he stayed, interviewing manager Hayashi. Conan notices an addition to the painting in a photograph and discovers that photo data from the day the picture was taken was erased from Aoki’s digital camera. Suspects include permanent part-timer Akagi, traveler Shirakawa, and fisherman Ishiguro. The investigation focuses on the discrepancies in the evidence and the potential motives of the individuals present at the inn during the time of the incident.
