The Detective Boys, excluding Conan, discover a dead man at a construction site. Kogoro receives a complimentary hotel voucher and takes Conan with him. When police arrive, Mitsuhiko tells Conan that the victim is a serial blackmailer named Unmo Sadakazu. Because Conan is absent, the Detective Boys follow the police to verify the alibis of the suspects. Conan eventually returns to the scene and successfully solves the case.
