Ep. 8: Nie Huaisang explains the castle rumors while Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji investigate the truth behind the attacks.

Nie Huaisang claims proximity to the castle, but Wei Wuxian suspects him due to his fan being found nearby. Nie Huaisang clarifies that the human-eating castle is actually a burial ground, with rumors fabricated to deter entry and disturbances caused by ancestral swords. Upon arrival, they encounter corpses and black-clad attackers. Wei Wuxian fights while Lan Wangji checks the tower. Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao arrive to assist when Nie Huaisang is targeted. The duo discovers a cultivator skilled in Gusu sword techniques with scars from the Hundred Holes curse. A zombie hand appears, leading them to find legs matching the arm sewn onto a corpse. They split up, with Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji heading West guided by the hand. In town, Lan Wangji asks about Wei Wuxian's death, but Wei Wuxian refuses to answer. Lan Wangji finds a pellet drum, triggering a memory of giving one to young Wei Wuxian before he went to Lotus Pier. In the post-credit scene, Jin Guangyao examines a paper with directions for the Sacrifice Ritual Mo Xuanyu used. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian arrive in Yi City, finding only corpses killed by Shuanghua before meeting Xiao Xingchen.
