Ep. 26: Kaiki faces consequences after deceiving Nadeko and completing his mission at the shrine.
Kaiki acknowledges his failure to deceive Nadeko, who was previously tricked by Ougi into becoming a god. Nadeko immobilizes Kaiki with snakes at the Polar Snake Shrine and threatens to kill Koyomi’s sisters. Kaiki exposes her secret desire to be a manga artist, forcing her to renounce her divinity to avoid discovery by her parents. He implants a fake slug to keep her unconscious during exorcism but is interrupted by Koyomi. Kaiki extracts the snake charm and advises Koyomi to sever ties with Nadeko for her own good. After confirming his task is complete with Hitagi, Kaiki realizes she sent the secret message to ensure his compliance. As he leaves the city, he is ambushed and mortally wounded by a middle schooler he previously deceived, hearing Ougi’s name before losing consciousness.
