Ep. 23: Kaiki deceives Nadeko while Hitagi pleads with Koyomi to sever ties

Kaiki meets Hitagi at a Mister Donut, explaining that Nadeko’s childlike state makes her easy to manipulate. He proposes lying about Koyomi’s death to spare them, requiring Hitagi to convince Koyomi to cut contact. Hitagi tearfully accepts this arrangement. The next day, Yotsugi delivers an ultimatum from Gaen, warning that the scheme risks destroying the city despite the ¥3,000,000 compensation. Ignoring the warning, Kaiki visits Nadeko again, proposing a 100-visit cycle. Nadeko reveals she replaced the cat’s cradle yarn with a white snake, terrifying Kaiki into recognizing her insanity. He then tricks her parents out of the house to investigate her room, where he discovers a shocking secret hidden in her closet.
