Kagehisa Anotsu recalls childhood trauma where Makie saved him from dogs, only to be beaten by his grandfather Saburou Anotsu for her rival clan ties despite her combat prowess. In the present, Rin attacks Kagehisa Anotsu in the forest with knives, but he easily deflects them, leaving only one wound. He explains their families' feud stems from opposing views on traditional swordsmanship versus pragmatic victory. Kagehisa Anotsu returns her weapons, noting her reliance on knives violates Mutenichi-ryuu tradition. After he leaves, Rin weeps in despair. Later, Kagehisa Anotsu remembers inheriting Ittou-ryuu after his grandfather’s companion killed him, allowing Kagehisa Anotsu to pursue his unique fighting style.
