Ep. 3: Makie fights Manji and rejects her past while Rin defends him.
Makie attempts to seduce Manji in an alley, revealing her Ittou-ryuu origins before he defeats her. She later meets Anotsu on a bridge, rejecting his claim that he desires her as a woman. After Anotsu leaves, she defeats three swordsmen sent by her former employer by cutting her hair and slaughtering them. Makie then engages Manji in a vicious battle in narrow laneways, where she slashes off his limbs and impales him with his own sword. Though shocked by her brutality, she continues fighting after Manji encourages her. Rin arrives to defend Manji, and when Makie questions the necessity of bloodshed for revenge, Rin states that killing for family is superior to killing for self-justification. Makie departs, declining to rejoin her sister O-Hatsu in the red light district, and leaves a note for Anotsu announcing her departure from the Ittou-ryuu.
