An academy located on a solitary island gathers boys and girls who possess special abilities. These students dedicate themselves to rigorous training in order to combat monsters referred to as the enemies of mankind. Among them is Nakajima Nana, who struggles with self-doubt regarding his own powers and is consequently nicknamed talentless-kun by his peers. His life undergoes a significant shift after he encounters Hiiragi Nana, a new transfer student. This meeting marks the beginning of drastic changes in his destiny, altering the trajectory of his time at the institution and his role within the group of capable youths.

Nana's Poison Plot and Tsunekichi's Prophetic Camera Revelation

Tsunekichi attempts to blackmail Nana with photos, revealing his visions come from a standard camera. Nana tampers with his watch and tries to kill him in the P.E. shed but is stopped. She claims she poisoned him and that a confiscated photo was fake. Kyōya and Michiru arrive after checking Tsunekichi's room. Kyōya shows Nana the fake photo, prompting her to falsely accuse Tsunekichi of taking nude pictures. She leaves to retrieve other photos while Michiru stays with the body. Nana later realizes a photo is missing. Michiru finds the missing photo in the shed just as Nana returns, leading to a confrontation between the two girls.

Nana uncovers Yuka Sasaki as the true necromancer controlling Tsunekichi's corpse.

Nana challenges Michiru’s belief in Tsunekichi’s clairvoyance after Michiru admits attempting to resurrect him. At the funeral, Kyoya demands an autopsy, but Nana pulls him aside for a private discussion. Upon their return, Shinji Kazama uses necromancy to animate Tsunekichi’s body. The following day, Nana questions Yuka Sasaki, who reveals she saved Shinji five years ago with her super strength. Nana feigns exhaustion to leave the infirmary and poison Shinji, but returns to rescue a cat trapped in a drain, enlisting Kyoya, Michiru, and Yuka’s help. Yuka refuses, citing an allergy. That night, Nana attempts to kill Yuka but is interrupted by Shinji. Nana then realizes Yuka is the actual necromancer. After Yuka explains Shinji’s death, Nana acknowledges her own nature as a murderer while asserting her respect for the dead.

The next morning, Yuka heads to the dormitory with Shinji but is confronted by Nana at a cliff. After convincing Moguo to burn the corpses of Yuka, Shinji, and Kirara, Kyoya grows suspicious until Kaori's body is found. He discovers Kaori was poisoned through her contacts. That night, Nana, Kyoya, and Michiru return to Kaori's room, where Nana realizes an error. Michiru checks Kaori's phone, leading Kyoya to conclude Nana is the killer. He waits for classmates to arrive to explain her actions and checks Nana for Kirara's phone.

Kyoya learns Nana disposed of Kirara's phone while creating an alibi, and she claims to hear Kirara's spirit. Michiru attempts to ambush Nana but is subdued, later pestering her until Nana accepts a gift. Nana then tricks the class into believing she can read minds by correctly identifying a note on Michiru's back. At a cliff, former student Jin Tachibana confronts Nana, admitting he used his talent to transform into Michiru. He reveals they met previously when he was the cat Kyoya fed and mentions a civil war on the island five years ago. Nana appears to kill Jin by poisoning his drink, but just before contacting the committee, she realizes he can copy any appearance and talent.

At the funeral for Shinji, Yuka, and Kaori, she observes the negative impact of Michiru's talent. Later, Jin and Michiru visit her room, where Jin turns into a cat. Michiru asks about her past, prompting Nana to reveal she was a normal girl who loved games and manga until a burglar killed her parents after she left her window unlocked. Michiru comforts her. The following morning, Kyoya leads Nana to another corpse, leading her to realize a new killer is active.

Kyoya reveals Ryuji Ishii's death as Fūko Sorano seeks revenge and Nana discovers Michiru's unconscious state.

Kyoya identifies Ryuji Ishii as the victim, while Moguo claims he was motivating his subordinates who then display their abilities. Outside, Ryuji’s girlfriend Fūko Sorano demonstrates her talent against Kyoya. The homeroom teacher arrives to inform the group that higher-ups are contacting them due to Kyoya’s actions. Nana and Michiru investigate the crime scene, where Nana detects something unusual about Michiru. Later, in the cafeteria, Nana becomes emotional when Michiru invites her to live with her family after graduation. Nana receives a new uniform and notices a poison bottle is missing. Kyoya’s teacher announces an official from headquarters is visiting. Fūko tearfully asks Nana to help avenge Ryuji. Nana finds Michiru’s diary, speaks with Jin, and eventually discovers Michiru unconscious in the bathtub.

Nana decides to save Michiru and asks Kyoya for assistance after her teacher suggests it. Kyoya arrives while Nana tends to Michiru, and Fuko visits that night to inquire about case developments. When Michiru wakes, the two spend time together. The next day, Jin speaks with Ryuji's killer and questions who manipulated Nana. Meanwhile, Tsuruoka informs the committee he is traveling to the island. As Kyoya investigates, Nana and Michiru play shogi. Michiru shares that she was bullied for her talent until she healed a dog, becoming friends with owner Hitomi Hosokawa. Michiru later fainted while helping at a hospital and learned Hitomi had cancer, eventually passing away. Nana becomes emotional when she is alone.

Nana faces a deadly trap while Kyoya uncovers the true identity of the killer.

Michiru reassures Nana regarding her parents' murder, leading to a hug and gift exchange. Kyoya identifies the killer, but Jin warns Nana that Michiru is the next target. Nana receives a call from Tsuruoka and arrives just as the attacker strikes, getting stabbed in the back. She reveals the killer is Rentaro Tsurumigawa, who possesses astral projection abilities. Nana insults Michiru to force her escape while setting a trap. Kyoya locates Rentaro's real body and stops him. As Nana lies dying, Michiru uses her talent to save her. The episode concludes with a distraught Nana holding Michiru's lifeless body after the rescue attempt.
