Although initially hesitant due to his young age, Roxy is convinced of his potential after observing his ability to cast spells instantly. During a family celebration, Rudeus resolves to dedicate himself to self-improvement, aiming to utilize his second chance to build a happy and meaningful existence in this new life.

Rudeus Overcomes Past Trauma and Passes Roxy's Graduation Exam

Rudeus reflects on his previous life, recalling his expulsion and the truck accident that killed him while saving teenagers. He spends months training magic under Roxy until his fifth birthday, when she announces her graduation exam. The following day, Rudeus departs with Roxy, initially distressed by memories of severe bullying that made him a recluse. However, he overcomes this trauma after observing how Roxy integrates with villagers despite prejudice against her demon heritage. During the assessment, Rudeus successfully summons a massive thunderstorm, earning a passing grade from Roxy. She then continues her journey, and Rudeus expresses his gratitude for her guidance and support throughout his training.

Rudeus rescues Sylph, discovers she is Sylphiette, and they reconcile as true friends.

Inspired by Roxy, Rudeus overcomes his fear of leaving home and plays outside alone. He saves a half-elf child he believes to be a boy named Sylph from bullies. Sylph becomes Rudeus's friend and learns magic, revealing an ability to cast spells without incantations. Six months later, Rudeus brings Sylph home during a storm and forcibly removes their clothes for a shared bath. He then discovers Sylph is actually a girl named Sylphiette. Although Rudeus apologizes, Sylphiette avoids him, causing him distress. Eventually, Sylphiette approaches Rudeus, and the two reconcile. Rudeus resolves to cherish Sylphiette as the first genuine friend he has made in his new life.

The Greyrat family celebrates Zenith’s pregnancy, but joy turns to shock when maid Lilia reveals her own pregnancy resulting from an affair with Paul. Rudeus protects Lilia by convincing Zenith to forgive her, taking the blame despite knowing Lilia seduced his father, thereby securing Lilia’s loyalty. Zenith and Lilia subsequently give birth to daughters named Norn and Aisha. Rudeus receives a letter from Roxy encouraging him to attend the Ronoa Magic Academy. Although Sylphiette does not wish for him to leave, he decides to seek employment to cover her tuition costs instead. Eventually, his parents entrust Rudeus to their friend, the beast woman Ghislaine Dedoldia, who departs the village with him.

Paul forbids Rudeus from seeing Sylphiette for five years while he tutors Eris in Roa. Eris is hostile, so Rudeus stages a kidnapping with her father's consent to gain her trust. After escaping, they discover a servant betrayed them, turning the fake event into a real abduction. Rudeus fights the criminals to protect Eris until Ghislaine arrives, killing the attackers and arresting the traitor. Eris then accepts Rudeus as her tutor, and he begins living in her house.

Using this allowance, Eris gifts Rudeus a vial he previously desired. This creates a dilemma for Rudeus, who fears that revealing the item is actually an aphrodisiac would expose his secrets to both Eris and Ghislaine.

That night, Eris visits his room, leading to an attempted intimacy that she rejects; Rudeus apologizes for his mistake, and she forgives him. Days later, a massive mana cloud appears in the sky. The legendary hero Perugius Dola sends his aide Arumanfi to investigate. Suspecting Rudeus, who is training with Eris and Ghislaine, is responsible, Arumanfi attacks him. Ghislaine defends Rudeus, and a burst of light confirms his innocence.

Rudeus meets the Human-God and joins Ruijerd to clear the Supard name

Rudeus dreams of the Human-God, who tells him to trust the man who saved him. He wakes up stranded in the Demon Continent with Eris, rescued by Ruijerd Superdia of the feared Supard race. Ruijerd escorts them to Migurdia, Roxy’s hometown. There, he explains that his tribe’s bad reputation stems from cursed spears given by the Demon-God Laplace, which caused mindless killings. The spear Rudeus holds belonged to Ruijerd’s son, who died by his father’s hand, allowing Ruijerd to regain his sanity. Inspired by Ruijerd’s goal to restore his clan’s honor, Rudeus agrees to assist him. The trio then leaves the village to start their journey home together.

The characters must navigate the challenges of their new role while dealing with the limitations imposed on Ruijerd's race. The outcome of Rudeus's scheme remains uncertain as they attempt to balance their need for income with the social barriers they face in the city.
