Danzo, Homura, and Koharu request Tsunade cancel Naruto's return, but she persuades them to allow his arrival to face Pain and Konan. After Tsunade's protection fails, Danzo kills the messenger frog to prevent communication with Naruto. Meanwhile, Kakashi Hatake meets to confront Pain, which facilitates Iruka's escape. This event occurs during the Pain's Assault arc, specifically episode 7 out of 22.
