Naruto Uzumaki's team reaches Paradise Island and is rescued from a giant squid by an octopus linked to the Great Frog Sage's prophecy. Motoi, the island's caretaker, reveals this octopus is Killer Bee in Eight-Tails form, a Jinchuriki who tamed his beast and seeks Naruto's mentorship. Bee declines, especially after Naruto accidentally insults him following a rap session and fist bump. Offended by Naruto's behavior, Motoi takes Naruto and Yamato to the Waterfall of Truth. There, Bee acts as a mediator for Naruto's training. Naruto discovers he must confront the embodiment of his inner darkness to eventually face the Nine-Tails.
