Gaara's Third Eye observes Team Fu discussing matters while Team Matsuri plans to acquire the scroll. Fugi and Hōichi attempt to seal Shukaku in a tea kettle, summoning a sandstorm that forces the siblings and other genin to take shelter. Headquarters notices the storm, and guards discover Gaara's sand clone at the office. Matsuri, Yukata, and Mikoshi fall into quicksand. Fu overhears their distress and rushes to rescue them, recalling her past friendship with Shibuki. She uses Blue Joro Spider to save the group before Gaara informs her about Naruto. Fu retains the earth scroll and departs before Hōichi confronts Gaara. This segment is part of the In Naruto's Footsteps: The Friends' Paths arc, specifically episode 17 out of 20.
