Naruto returns to find Konohagakure replaced by a massive Chibaku Tensei after Pain's attack. Inside the sphere, Minato cannot teleport out while Shikaku and Inoichi coordinate defense strategies. Minato organizes a Four Crimson Ray Formation with Hiruzen, Tsunade, and Kushina to counter the crushing force. Naruto engages the Six Paths of Pain, releasing a shadow clone and entering Sage Mode. He defeats five paths but is pinned by the Deva Path. Hinata intervenes but is struck down, causing Naruto to grow six tails. Pain subsequently traps Naruto inside another Chibaku Tensei.
