Itachi plays with Sasuke, triggering memories of his father Fugaku and the Uchiha relocation after the Nine-Tails' attack. He recalls a mission with Team 2 to find a ninja cat for Nekobaa, where Tenma sought whiskers for his sick father's medicine. Itachi saved Tenma from the cat's attack, though his teammates were incapacitated. On the return to Konoha, Shinko scolded Tenma for not thanking Itachi, emphasizing their friendship. These memories resurface when Itachi remembers Obito killing Tenma during a mission. The pain of these recollections awakens Itachi's Sharingan, which Sasuke observes. Itachi wonders if Sasuke will eventually awaken the Sharingan as well.
