Ep. 460: Black Zetsu reveals Kaguya Otsutsuki's tragic past involving Tenji and the God Tree
While draining Naruto and Sasuke, Black Zetsu recounts Kaguya Otsutsuki's history in the Land of So. A meteorite spawned a God Tree, leading Emperor Tenji to bring home a mysterious woman who erased witnesses' memories. She claimed to protect the tree, and Tenji fell in love with her desire for peace. Conflict arose with the Land of Ka, but Tenji forbade retaliation despite their aggression. When Ka agents abducted Kaguya, she killed them, prompting representative Suzaku to expose her during negotiations. Unaware she was pregnant with twin sons, Tenji ordered her execution to maintain peace. Betrayed, Kaguya reached the God Tree as her attendant died shielding her. Consuming the fruit, she gained immense power, cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and trapped Tenji and others within the roots.
